The Post- Master’s study option prepares practicing nurses who already have a master’s degree in nursing for advanced specialty certification. Students in this program do not earn a degree from The Ohio State University. After you are admitted, you will work with a faculty advisor to create a curriculum plan to meet the certification requirements.
You will complete any of the OSU coursework that was not included in your prior graduate program, as well as, specialty coursework and precepted clinical placements for the specialty area. In order to waive courses completed at another institution, a copy of the syllabus from the term the course was taken will be required. Application Deadline January 1. Program Start Date Autumn semester (only)The faculty have established a policy regarding applicants who are not certified advanced practice nurses (e. CNLs, Nurse Educators, etc) or who did not have pathophysiology, pharmacology, or advanced health assessment as part of their previous master’s program at another institution. Earn your ESL master's degree in Ohio. Find the top programs, TESOL coursework, and alternative ESL teacher certification. Such applicants will need to apply to our traditional master’s option even if they hold the MS in Nursing degree. Some required coursework may be waived based on courses completed during a previous graduate program. Course waivers may be sought once a student is admitted to the program and require approval of the Graduate Studies Committee. Due to Graduate School guidelines, this policy does not apply to those who received their MS in Nursing degree from The Ohio State University. These former students can only apply to the Post- Master's (non- degree) program. If you have questions regarding your eligibility for the post- master's program, please contact nursing@osu. Please note that as non- degree seeking students, those pursuing the Post- Master's option are ineligible to receive financial aid. Application Materials. The following materials are required: • Post- Master's Application and Disclosure Form• Purpose and goals statement. This statement should not exceed 3 single- spaced pages. The purpose and goals statement is an opportunity to address each of the questions listed below, and also to demonstrate your writing skills. Consideration will be given to both the quality of your writing sample and the congruence between your stated goals and the masters program. What specifically are your academic and career goals? What are your motivations for seeking advanced education in your designated specialty area? How did you come to your decision to seek graduate education in this specialty area? What are your primary personal attributes and what is the relationship of these attributes to your potential as a masters- prepared nurse and/ or advanced practice nurse?• Current resume or curriculum vita• Transcripts from all previous colleges or universities attended• Two letters of recommendation. MS Word or PDF attachments.• A Graduate Non- Degree application is necessary for those who have never been enrolled in a graduate program at The Ohio State University. Follow the instructions located at: http: //gradadmissions. You will need to send SEPARATE proof of degree (to the university’s Graduate Admissions Office) as part of the Graduate Non- Degree application. The Graduate School will send a letter notifying applicants of their admission status to the Graduate Non- Degree program only. Admission to the Graduate Non- Degree program does not guarantee admission to the College of Nursing’s Post Masters program.• The post- master's program does have a competitive application and admissions process.
